Newlix OfficeServer VPN Solution
The Newlix OfficeServer supports two VPN connections:
- IPSEC VPN for LAN to LAN tunnels so that you can connect two
satellite offices together securely to create a WAN.
- PPTP VPN to securely connect a remote user to your LAN using
Microsoft's VPN adapter.
Both of these solutions use the highest level of security and industry
accepted protocols. Details are as follows:
- IPSEC VPN support:
- Is based on FreeS/WAN open source software.
- Provides authentication and encryption at the IP level.
- Uses keys that are negotiated using the Internet Key Exchange
(IKE) protocol.
- Has it's initial authentication done using ESP encryption.
- Uses Triple-DES standard in Cipher-Block-Chaining mode using
a 64-bit internally generated and a 192-bit 3DES ekey (the
3DES-MD5-96 protocol) for ESP encryption.
- Automatically re-negotiates data encryption keys every 8
hours.
- Uses securely stored 256 byte (2048 bit) common secrets
for initial authentication.
- Supports RSA digital signatures as an option.
- PPTP VPN support:
- Is based on PopTop open source software.
- Provides encryption at the IP level.
- Uses user/password authentication.
- Requires no additional software on Windows PC.
