Newlix OfficeServer 1.6.0-2 patch

NOTE: This patch is cummulative and can be applied to any version prior to 1.6.0-2. Instructions to apply the patch can be found here.

The 1.6.0-2 patch addresses these issues:

  1. Addresses all 1.6.0-1 issues and 1.5.0-51 issues.
  2. Changes the name of the software to "GaaJ Services' Newlix OfficeServer"

Follow these steps to applying the patch to your OfficeServer:

NOTE: You may also follow the advanced instructions if you wish.

REMINDER: See the help system included on the OfficeServer CD for assistance with the following steps (such as setting the root password or logging in to the server).

  1. Download the patch file and save it to your computer.
  2. Using a tool such as winzip (follow the advanced instructions if you do not have this tool), extract the file it contains and save it to the "patches" folder on your server such as \\NEWLIX\\patches (see the File Server - Microsoft NetBIOS screen for your server's name if it is not NEWLIX).

    You will be prompted for the "root" password when you try to save the file. If you do not know your server's root password, see the System - Access Control screen and set the value for the Operating system (root) password and try again.

  1. The log file UpdateOutput.nos will appear right away (note the name "UpdateOutput.nos" instead of "UpdateScript.nos") and after a few moments, the patch will begin to be applied. You may view the log file as the patch is being applied using "wordpad". Once completed, the last lines of the log file will show the completion status such as:
    Exiting patch script after 46 minutes, 34 seconds.

    OK: Successfully applied patch 1.6.0-2.

NOTE: In some cases, the patch will not apply unless you create a new folder in the patches share folder first and save the patch in that folder. To create a folder in the patches folder, open the patches folder, right click in the patches folder area, choose New and then choose Folder.

To verify that the patch was successfully applied you should view the System - Status screen to confirm that the version number of the OfficeServer has been updated. If the version number has a plus sign in it such as "1.5.0-50+" or "1.6.0-1+", then there was an error applying the patch. Try re-installing the patch using the advanced instructions.
