The 1.6.0-1 patch addresses many issues. It:

1. Addresses all 1.5.0-51 issues if your server is still at version 1.5.0-50.
2. Upgrades these system files:

   4. Apache Web server to 1.3.26+fp

3. Fixes related to CERT advisories:
   1. Potential remote root exploit in bind, the DNS server software.
   2. Potential remote root exploit in wu-ftpd, the FTP Server software.
   3. Use of apache server to request remote pages for retrieval.
4. Fixes problems accessing the configuration screen when the server is not using an Internet accepted hostname (adds option to disable the use of canonical names in the Internet - Web Server feature).
5. Fixes (removes) ability to use the Internet - Web/FTP Cache to exploit server's bandwidth by remote Internet hackers.
6. Fixes issues printing received faxes and viewing faxes in the Server - Fax and Server - Fax Queues features.
7. Fixes inability to gracefully recover from changes in ISP connectivity between two servers with Communications - Virtual Networks feature.
8. Fixes problems changing Internet connection method using the button on the main page marked Change connection type.
9. Fixes inability to properly change a user's password under certain conditions from the User - Management screen.

25. Adds ability to disable DNS logging in the System - Administration screen.

27. Adds logging output for registration process in the System - Debug screen.
28. Adds Average CPU Load report in the System - Status screen.
29. Updates server address for registration process.
30. Updates all help text to most recent version.
31. Enhances printer support and fixed bugs regarding remote network printers.
32. Improves performance by running all housekeeping chores at a lower priority.
33. Changes the name of the software to "GaaJ Services' Better OfficeServer"

Follow these steps to applying the patch to your OfficeServer 1.5.0-50 or 1.5.0-51:

NOTE: You may also follow the advanced instructions if you wish.

REMINDER: See the help system included on the OfficeServer CD for assistance with the following steps (such as setting the root password or logging in to the server).

1. Download the patch file and save it to your computer.
2. Using a tool such as winzip (follow the advanced instructions if you do not have this tool), extract the file it contains and save it to the "patches" folder on your server such as \\NEWLIX\\patches (see the File Server - Microsoft NetBIOS screen for your server's name if it is not NEWLIX).
   

You will be prompted for the "root" password when you try to save the file. If you do not know your server's root password, see the System - Access Control screen and set the value for the Operating system (root) password and try again.

2. The log file UpdateOutput.nos will appear right away (note the name "UpdateOutput.nos" instead of "UpdateScript.nos") and after a few moments, the patch will begin to be applied. You may view the log file as the patch is being applied. Once completed, the last lines of the log file will show the completion status such as:

   Exiting patch script after 46 minutes, 34 seconds.
   -----------------------------------------------------------
   Successfully applied patch 1.6.0-1
   OK: Successfully applied patch 1.6.0-1.

NOTE: In some cases, the patch will not apply unless you create a new folder in the patches share first.

To verify that the patch was successfully applied you should view the System - Status screen to confirm that the version number of the OfficeServer has been updated.
