OfficeServer 1.5.0-51 patch

WARNING: This patch is outdated. Please see the lattest patch page instead.

The 1.5.0-51 patch addresses many issues. It:

  1. Fixes faulty non-registered message on all configuration pages.
  2. Fixes lost smb.conf file for File Server - Microsoft NetBIOS.
  3. Fixes memory leak in CGI process execution daemon.
  4. Fixes inability to get IP with DHCP and Terayon cable modems.
  5. Fixes inability to change incoming FTP folder access.
  6. Fixes JavaScript error when updating WebHelp.
  7. Fixes erroneous report about date changes.
  8. Fixes bug when adding a second feature key to System - Upgrade screen.
  9. Fixes broken DNS when installing with manufacturingdisk=yes.
  10. Fixes bug when an illegal line is in /etc/passwd.
  11. Fixes problem creating print queues for Windows printers.
  12. Adds ability to customize DNS records.
  13. Adds custom retrieval days for e-mail.
  14. Adds ability to receive patches by e-mail.
  15. Changes display of version number to use file instead of compile code.
  16. Fixes stealth firewall when server is directly on the Internet and has a single Network card installed.

Follow these steps to applying the patch to your OfficeServer 1.5.0-50:

NOTE: These instructions are specific to this patch, newer patches will be much simpler to apply.

REMINDER: See the help system included on the OfficeServer CD for assistance with the following steps (such as setting the root password or logging in to the server).

  1. Download the patch file and save it to your computer.
  2. Open it using a tool such as PKUnzip or WinZIP and extract the UpdateScript.nos.
  3. Copy the UpdateScript.nos file to the "shared" folder on your Newlix OfficeServer.
  4. Make sure your have not disabled telnet and you have set a root password.
  5. Login to the server as root using telnet.
  6. Apply the patch using the command:
  7. /USERSPACE/shared/UpdateScript.nos 
  8. You will see many messages terminating with "Successfully applied patch 1.5.0-51"
  9. Type this command to terminate the telnet session:

    NOTE: You may need to press ENTER first to regain the command prompt.

  10. exit

To verify that the patch was successfully applied you should view the "System - Status" screen to confirm that the version number of the Newlix OfficeServer has been updated.
