The new version 1.6.0-1 adds more secure features such as a tripwire and adds PHP and MySQL support to the Apache web server as well as addressing all current know security issues and fixing a few bugs.

GaaJ Services Acquires rights to Newlix OfficeServer software

Ottawa, Canada. GaaJ Services was able to acquires the rights to the original Newlix OfficeServer software (version 1.5.0-50 to 60). This will allow GaaJ Services to accept orders for the Linux based Appliance Server Software.

Newlix Corporation goes out of business

Ottawa, Canada. The 2 year old Newlix Corporation is shutting down. The official reason has not been disclosed and President John Hansen was not available to comment, however, it would appear that the lack of VC capital and the increasing competition in the appliance server marketplace would be to blame.

It is unclear what will happen to current Newlix customers, but Jean-Serge Gagnon, cofounder of Newlix Corporation has said that he will continue to provide support through his consulting firm (GaaJ Services) until concrete decisions are made.
